Trulli | Alberobello, Italy
Throughout my time in Puglia, I loved seeing the scattered Trulli throughout the countryside. While they can be seen throughout this entire region, Alberobello remains on of the most densely populated places to visit the trullo home.
The trulli are dry stone hut dwellings with a conical roof, constructed without the use of mortar, a prehistoric building technique that was used in Puglia. This architectural style is special to this area because of the abundance of limestone and other calcareous material found in the land.
The majority of the homes have one room under each conical roof, with additional spaces tucked in the arch alcoves. I was able to go in and out of some trulli, dine in one, and just admire their overall beauty in this white town.
