With leading global technological presence in the Silicon Valley, Rakuten has decided to make their first North American presence in San Mateo. Rakuten hired Gensler to evaluate and strategize their move to better understand the Silicon Valley office culture. Rakuten has selected their location in San Mateo based off the feasibility for future growth. They will occupy the 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors with the potential to expand to the rest of the building.
Rakuten is a Japanese electronic commerce and internet company based in Tokyo, Japan. It is one of the largest e-commerce sites in the world who inspires to bring internet retail to the world, creating an open, global market. Rakuten seeks to empower a hospitality mindset, creating lasting relationships with clients and customers. With over 90,000 products and 38,500 shop owners, Rakuten is among the top three e-commerce companies in the world. With this, they have expanded their market globally, moving into the North America market.
